Opening of Clubhouse Extension - updated 11/2/16

Last night in the clubhouse the Penzance Mayor David Nebesnuick officially opened the new clubhouse extension. At the same time he unveiled a painting that was very generously donated to Penlee by David (the artist) and Beryl Langsworthy. A great night that was attended by members of Penlee but specifically:

Architect Roger Roberts who drew up the plans originally at no charge but in the end for the princely fee of 12 bottles of wine (a gift from Penlee!),

Jason Sincock: builders who have done a superb job in the build whilst keeping “100 inquisitive and sometimes doubtful customers happy!!”

Lynne Bonehill and Paul Langford, Chairman of CORY Environmental Trust in Cornwall who provided invaluable funding and were very supportive to the project.

Cornwall Councillor Jim McKenna who was instrumental in the initial discussions with Cornwall Council.

Apologies came from

Jon Mitchell and Rod Porter from Cornwall Council who gave approval and licence to undertake the work.

Daniel Tregear: at a vastly reduced fee helped to guide Mike Richards and sign off building works.

SITA Cornwall Trust who provided the bulk of funding. We worked with Wendy Reading who was very supportive to the project and in fact arranged for the original amount awarded to be increased which meant it could be completed. Also the supplementary visit and sign off by Betty Hale, a Director for the Trust.

Jewson Ltd who were incredible in that they supplied the paint at no cost at all and a number of industrial dehumidifiers for a vastly reduced fee which did get the floor dry in time for the New Year and ultimately the carpet laying.

Malcolm Furneaux started proceedings
