The presentation night was held in November. A few photos of the evening. Everything went well, the food was great as was the company. Of course Nigel did his late arriving trick - Wetherspoons busy then???

Trouble at t.'mill

If you're having trouble posting a comment to a message on the blog the following notes might help.

First and foremost - you must be a member of the blog to post a comment.  If you have not already joined click on "Sign In" in the dark blue bar at the top right of the blog home page.  On the next page click on "Sign up for a new Google Account" at top right and follow the instructions.  If you get stuck, contact Bill Burnett for help.

If you are already a member click on the title of the message you wish to comment on (no need to sign in at this stage). This opens up the comments page which has a blank rectangular space for a new comment. Type in your comment and click on "Post Comment". This takes you to the Google Account sign in page.  Enter your e-mail address and password. Make sure that there is NOT a tick in the box beside 'Stay signed in' - if there is, click on the box to remove it. Now click on the blue "Sign In" box and your comment should be posted to the blog.  You may be asked to type in a security code - make sure you copy the combination of letters and numbers exactly.

To Super league or not to super league, that is the question??

Well, as raised recently at the AGM the proposal for the Cornwall Super League has been received and is attached. If you have any comments to feedback please do by the middle of November to Mick Hewett or put them on the blog for all to see. Also if you see anyone please direct them to this document!!

Finding the Blog

Congratulations!! You have successfully reached the Penlee Bowling Club Blog.

If you came here via the link on the Penlee Bowling Club website please make a note of the URL of this Blog  http://penleebowls.blogspot.com  and add it to your "Favourites" or "Bookmarks" list on your browser.  Then next time you want to look at the Blog you can select it from your list and won't have to go through the BC website.

BDA Annual Review

I've received the attached concerning the Bowls Development Alliance Review. It's interesting to see what efforts are being made to promote this game we enjoy.

To blog or not to blog? - that is the question.

Only four responses so far from those members who were contacted about the Penlee Bowls Blog - three for and one against.

At present the blog is open to all, otherwise no-one but me would be able to see it!!  However, once up and running it would become a closed blog; only members of the club who have been invited to join the blog would be able to view it and make comments.  The blog would be a kind of social networking site but with very restricted membership and a world away from "Twitter", "Facebook", "Friends Reunited" and other such websites.

New idea

Come on - admit it - very few members of the Penlee Bowling Club even know we have a website, let alone have visited it.  The website is designed to provide information about the club to bowlers from other clubs and to people who may be thinking of trying out the game.  In a sense it's not the end of the world that members have chosen to ignore it.

It has been suggested that the website could be used as a means of communicating information to members by adding a new "Latest News" page but there are technical difficulties in doing that with our existing site. As an alternative this "blog" has been set up.  It's very experimental at this stage - still working on the idea - but the kind of thing that could be put up on the blog would be team selections, match results and reports, photographs etc. The blog could also be used as a 'forum' for discussion between members of the club.

What do you think?  Is the idea a runner?
